Our post to this blog in June questioned why no one had thought to turn to the Lord to stem the flow of oil into the Gulf of Mexico. We urged our readers to pray for the oil to be turned off. As we write this the oil well has been capped and oil has ceased flowing into the Gulf. Now the news accounts are reporting that the oil that had been spilled is no where to be found. The hundreds of fishing boats contracted to pick up the oil are sitting idle. The oil is not on the surface, nor has it reached any beaches or wetlands. Where did it go? Has no one thought that perhaps the Lord got rid of it? Praise God for another miracle in our midst even if the news reporters don’t want to report it or admit it.

We are now over 40 days since the oil platform in the gulf exploded and sank. All the attempts to stop the leaking oil have been unsuccessful. Why? Because MAN is trying to fix it with human effort. Don’t you think that maybe it’s time to turn to GOD to stop the leak? After all it’s His oil. “Heavenly Father, You are the Creator of all things and were gracious to give us dominion over the earth. Abba, we messing up the place really bad and need Your help. Please stop the oil flow in the Gulf of Mexico. We humbly ask this in the Name of Your Son, Jesus”. Amen

Today the Obama administration announced that the United States will swear off the development of new generations of nuclear weapons and will not use its existing arsenal to attack nonnuclear states. The new policy “recognizes that the greatest threat to U.S. and global security is no longer a nuclear exchange between nations, but nuclear terrorism by violent extremists and nuclear proliferation to an increasing number of states,” Obama said later in a statement. So what he is saying is that Iran, North Korea, and China are no longer nuclear threats? As we give up our nuclear weapons and vow not develop new ones, pretty soon the only nations who will have nuclear weapons are the ones who intend to use them.

Dear Senators Webb and Warner, and Representative Wolf,

We are writing to inform you of our opposition to the current health care debate and proposed health care legislation. From polls we have seen over 60% of the American people are opposed to any change in health care. We are members of this majority.

We agree that affordable health care should be available to all Americans, but any legislation must retain the current policy against federal funding of abortions, include full conscience protection, and be free of the multitude of “pork provisions” and behind closed door deals.

Our Catholic faith tells us that our support for the dignity of life includes access to affordable health care. This support, however, cannot come at the expense of the respect for life at all stages, from natural conception to natural death.

It is time that you begin to listen to your constituents and not your party leadership.

If health care legislation is to come to pass, please consider scraping this current initiative and starting over. We believe the Congress should be moving on with the business of the country. The economy, employment, the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and the protection from terrorism are far more important, in our opinion, than this health care debacle.

Sincerely,

The pro-choice advocates are in a tiz over a proposed ad to be aired during the Super Bowl. The ad, which we have not seen, features Tim Tebow and his mother, who opted not to abort her child during a crisis pregnancy, even after the recommendations of her doctors. The pro-choice folks are claiming that the ad is a pro-life advertisement, thus political in nature and do not want it shown.

The pro-choice folk’s true colors are once again being displayed. They are only pro-choice if the choice is to abort a child. Mrs. Tebow had a choice, she opted not to abort. So instead of criticizing, the pro-choice folks should be cheering. Mrs. Tebow did EXACTLY what they have been advocating — she made a choice. It just wasn’t the choice they wanted. So in reality the pro-choice folks are not really pro-choice, they are in fact pro-death because in their distorted view that is the only choice.

Without this event we would not have Christmas. In today’s politically correct world there is often an effort to try to appease and please everyone, but let us not loose sight of why we have Christmas. It’s not about Santa, elves, presents or parties. In the busyness of the season, please keep in mind the Reason for the season.

With all the news recently concerning health care reform, we thought to look into some of the claims.

Here are a few of the highlights. This list was taken from a much longer list compiled by Mathew Staver of the Freedom Foundation. We have personally looked at the House Bill 3200 and can see how these specific items can be construed as indicated by Mr. Staver.

Page 16: If you like your present plan you can keep it. But, if you want to alter or change it you cannot. It must be a government “approved” plan.

Page 29 lines 4-16: Your health care will be rationed.

Page 30 Section 123: A government committee will decide what benefits and treatments you will or will not receive.

Page 58: The government will have real-time access to an indvidual’s finances and national ID cards will be issued.

Page 59 lines 21-24: The government will have direct access to your bank accounts for transfer of funds.

Page 72 lines 8-14: The governmnet will create a Health Care Exchange to bring privildged plans under Federal control.

Page 95 lines 8-18: The government will use groups like ACORN and AmeriCorps to sign up individuals for public option.

Page 127 lines 10-16: The government will set doctor’s salaries.

Page 239 lines 14-24: The government will reduce doctor’s services to Medicaid, Medicare, low income and the poor.

Page 341 lines 3-9: The government has the authority to disqualify Medicare Advantage plans, HMOs, etc, to force individuals and families into government public option plans.

Page 425 lines 4-15: The government mandates Advance Care Planning Consultants; will instruct regarding “end of life”, living wills, durable powers of attorney and will provide “approved” list of “end of life” resources.

Page 429 lines 13-25: The government will specify which doctors are “approved” to write an “end of life” order.

Page 1001: The government will establish a National Medical Device Registry.

There has been a lot of press over the past couple of years about global warming and how many low areas of the world will be consumed by the rising oceans cause by the melting of the polar ice caps. In reading Job 38: 8-11, I found the Lord speaking to Job about Who He is and what He has done. In these passages the Lord Himself declares about the seas “Thus far shall you come, and no further and here shall your proud waved be stayed”. (ESV) So the Lord Himself has stated that the oceanic limits that we have known for centuries will stay as they are.
